Hatha Flow Yoga
Brings together a variety of yoga traditions which emphasize attention
to asana ( poses), pranayama focus (breathing), mindfulness and
meditation. Poses strengthen and tone the body while breathing and
relaxation practices (savasana) encourage peace-of-mind and inner
balance. Establish a greater sense of comfort and confidence in your
practice. All levels from adventurous
beginner to experienced. Change your gaze, change your
mood and change your life.
Hatha Restorative Flow
Restorative yoga is a growing phenomenon in North America, partly due to the vast number of “Baby Boomers” who are embracing the practice of Hatha Yoga, and partly due to the incredible amount of stress and overstimulation we are exposed to in our day to day lives. In a Restorative class all poses are performed either sitting or lying down and supported with the use of props such as bolsters, blankets, straps, eye pillows and blocks. The poses are held for up to 4 minutes, giving the student time to unwind muscular tension, free the joints, and release into the pose. Experience stillness and release, peace and quiet, surrender and renewal. Come, and be restored.
Bliss Candlelight Flow =
Yin/Yang
This unique once-a-month practice in a cozy, beautifully lit
space, creates a lunar yoga sadhana that will take you into the
depths of your practice. Gradual, sustained Yin opening within
connective tissues will release tensions and create space for the
free flow of Yang energy. Challenging postures are held in order to
tap into deeply rooted tension, allowing greater freedom of the
joints and ease through full range of motion. A perfect balance and
peace of mind. Yang will stimulate the muscles and Yin will move
beyond the muscles, lubricating the joints and increasing
flexibility. A wonderful blend of yoga to strengthen, nourish and
regulate the energy levels of the body..... yoga bliss.
Yin Yoga
A gentle stretch of asanas that energizes and calms the busy mind and is suitable for all levels and all ages. It builds bone mass while it helps realign the body. A delightful and comforting practice using props within poses that are held for longer periods of time. The Yin aspect of Yoga uses long-held relaxed floor postures to stretch and stimulate the "Yin"or connective tissues of the body. Yin postures are done with the muscles relaxed and are held for longer times ..... a practice of letting go of both the mental and the physical tensions that we store inside.
Christa Harvison
Christa first discovered yoga through a television program called “Kareen’s Yoga”, broadcast out of Vancouver in the late 1980s. Through Kareen’s program and books, a love of yoga was instilled. As will often happen, life, specifically university, marriage and children took over and yoga took a back seat for a few years. Christa then experienced the joy of practicing yoga in a group setting in a yoga class led by Gayle and hasn’t looked back! She completed her teacher training through Balanced Life Yoga in 2006 and now practices and teaches a mix of Ashtanga, Hatha and Flow Yoga. Christa believes and rejoices in the power of yoga for the health of body, mind and spirit!
Cynthia Flood, RYT
For the last 10 years she has taught Vinyasa Yoga, classical Hatha, Restorative & pre-natal Yoga, and Yogilates at beginner, intermediate and advanced intermediate levels. Cynthia is a compassionate, gentle and supportive instructor. Her direct experience with the physical changes wrought by the passage of time has softened her approach to asana yoga and inspired her to teach at a pace that is accessible to all levels of practitioner, giving beginners the opportunity to learn poses from the ground up while offering more advanced students the space to practice at a deeper level. She believes that it’s never too late or too soon to begin, and that there is always room to grow. As her own beloved teacher often says, “To teach is to truly be taught.”
